Reef Hawaiian Pro – live on Thursday!

After a few days of playing the waiting game, the Reef Hawaiian Pro is expected to go live on Thursday morning.  The new northwest groundswell should be showing by daybreak, meaning we’re likely to see the first heat in the water at 8:00 am local time.  Some sizable waves should pump through throughout the day, making a perfect venue for the later heats of this first event of the 2008 Van’s Triple Crown of Surfing.

I’m betting on the men’s event getting the go ahead, as the conditions will fluctuate very contestable tomorrow, to not as good as we go into the weekend.  Sorry to say ladies, but I have a feeling the gentlemen will get the nod for the big stuff.  The men’s contest will have to be completed over two days, while the women’s event can be wrapped up in a few hours.

Should the men’s event get greenlighted, we will have a really amazing day of surfing, with 2007 World Champ, Mick Fanning (AUS) featured in the very first heat of the day.  Since the men’s event is now into Round 4, we see the arrival of the World Tour surfers and the top seeded WQS guys, where they’ll be pitted against the guys who fought through the lower heats.

Tune it to the event website in time to catch all the day’s action.
