Reef Hawaiian Pro – Friday lay day

The first event of the Van’s Triple Crown of surfing, the 6 Star Prime Reef Hawaiian Pro, is just one day away from finishing, having called a lay day on Friday.  Thursday’s heats saw some stellar performances and big exits by top World Tour guys and top WQS hopefuls.  With an expected return of waves thanks to a new northwest swell expected on Saturday, we should see the completion of the event on Saturday.  Tune in early, as organizers will likely push for an early start to be sure to fit in all of the necessary heats.

Competition will resume with the 14th heat of Round 4, featuring World Tour surfers, Chris Ward (USA)and Dayyan Neve (AUS), WQS top 10 – Patrick Gudauskas (USA), and Rudy Palmboom (ZAF).  Heat 15 features World Tour surfers, Rodrigo Dornelles (BRA) and Jordy Smith (ZAF), Drew Courtney (AUS) and Hank Gaskell (HAW).  Heat 16 features World Tour surfer, Joel Parkinson (AUS), Pedro Henrique (BRA), Alain Riou (PYF) and Wiggolly Dantas (BRA).

Tune in to the event website for all the action, scheduled to go live at 8:00 am, Hawaiian time.
