Billabong Pro Maui – Monday and Tuesday lay days

The Billabong Pipeline Masters got off to a great start on Tuesday on Oahu’s North Shore, while the Billabong Pro Maui took another lay day.  For the second day in a row, the call was made to postpone the start of the event.  The swell that made for clean overhead surf on Oahu, barely touched Maui’s northwest tip.

When the competition finally gets going later this week, we’re going to see the top 17 ladies and one wildcard duke it out at Honolua Bay.  While we’re waiting for the action to start on Maui, take a look at this clip from the 2006 contest, where the ladies scored big, perfect Honolua Bay.  Hopefully for their sakes and ours, they’ll have a stroke of luck that finds them with a repeat swell event within the December 8th to December 20th event window.  Check in at the event website each day for the morning call, to be sure not to miss any of the action when the contest goes live.
