Okay, the economy will be better soon, but until then, the original “Surf City”( Santa Cruz) recently had a notable recession victim: the “World’s First Surfing Museum“. Closing the doors to one of the city’s proudest monuments, ideally situated on the bluff overlooking Steamer Lane, Santa Cruz shut out tourists for the first time since its opening in 1986. I don‘t get it – budgets must be painfully tight – the museum is about the size of my living room – how much could it cost to have one person (a volunteer perhaps?) sit there all day? Not a bad place to take lunch from…
