The first two contests of the ASP World Tours are just a few days away. That’s right, not just the boys, but the ladies too, have their season opener starting this Friday, February 27th, with the trials preceding the kickoff of the main event on Saturday. The whole world will be watching as the men come off of holiday for the Quiksilver Pro and the ladies show up for the Roxy Pro, both on the Gold Coast of beautiful Queensland, Australia.
After a 2008 dominated by the seemingly unstoppable and unsurpassable 9 time World Champ Kelly Slater on the World Tour and 2 time World Champ Stephanie Gilmore on the women’s World Tour, the rest of the top 45 and top 17 are eager to make their mark early on and prevent the reigning world champs from running victory laps.
Both events will be broadcast live on the interweb, allowing surfers and surf fans around the world the opportunity to behold the spectacle taking place at Snapper Rocks. Tune in to the event websites for updates, photos, videos, heat sheets and all the live action.
