I have two very specific reasons for posting a link to surfline.com.
The first one is that Ross Clarke-Jones tows into a massive wave, is stuck in the middle of an endless wall of water, and takes it all on the dome. It is photos like this that remind me why they are pros and I am not. And as much as I like to brag about the neck-twisting wipeout I had at Ocean Beach when it was overhead (which means it was maybe pushing 4 foot), I really have no idea what it means to really wipeout. Furthermore, I have never been in surf that made me feel like wearing a life vest–and although incredibly uncool–it was undoubtedly necessary in sustaining my life.
The second reason for the link to surfline.com is to showcase how awesome it is to view photo sequences on surfline.com. The traditional photo sequence, adopted from surfing magazines, placed 15 different pictures of the sequence on the same page or required you to click the next button. The old paradigm was time consuming and really did not give you much in the way of a sequence at all. But now, surfline.com has revolutionized the photo sequence. It is a dynamic experience that gives you a more active and engaging way to view a ride. The photo sequence loads, and then by moving your mouse over the picture from left to right, the pictures in the sequence appear all in the same place.
Someone finally realized that you didn’t have to follow the print format for photo sequences on the web. Surfline.com was the people who understood this and I applaud them.

Thanks bru! I designed and built that sequence player (the Bad Ass Sequence player or BASP) for Surfline. Nice to get a shout out! Drop me a line if you ever come down to Pleasure Point, I’ll buy you a beer.
Hey Paxton. Yeah i love the sequence player too. Ive got a little online mag project ive been working on and ive been looking for something like this. Can i use it too or is it exclusive to surfline? would you recomend anything else? Nice to see someone in santa cruz contributing to surfing without being a greedy pro.
