Save Hatteras! Not the lighthouse – the waves!!!

Do you like bird-watching? Well if you did, I would stop because birds are going to be a serious problem for Outer Banks surfers. I have just been informed by my fellow surfers on Swellinfo that right now, there is a lawsuit going on that the Audubon Society and other wildlife groups started saying that they want to close all of the Pea Island National Wildlife Refuge to public access! I know! I just peed in my pants too! This means that every break from Hatteras on up to Rodanthe on up to the inlet will be inaccessible.  Here’s a news bit that I found on it.  This bill could be passed within the week. How bad would it be if the best break east-side shut down? It would cause mass hysteria. So please, for my sake, for their sake, for your sake, e-mail SaveCapeHatteras@realwatersports.com and have your name and hometown on the message. Spread the word, East-Coasters may never surf anything bigger than head-high again!

Also, check out Surfline’s article on it.
