Another day in Tasmania, and the 6 Star WQS O’Neill Cold Water Classic drew closer to an ending, setting up the quarterfinal heats for when action resumes. Unfortunately, we home viewers are left to once again catch the action via the live score stream (the above video is from the first day of competition).
Picking up in the middle of Round 4, the final four heats of the round flew by, seeing the exit of former World Tour surfer Jay Thompson (AUS), Heath Joske (AUS), Yuri Sodre (BRA) and Jean da Silva (BRA).
Round 5 saw Dion Atkinson (AUS) comboing Pablo Paulino (BRA); Jadson Andre (BRA) post a huge win over Adam Melling (AUS); Owen Wright (AUS) closely edging out former World Tour surfer, Nathan Hedge (AUS); Jordy Smith (ZAF) taking a big win over Dusty Payne (HAW); Patrick Gudauskas (USA) fighting off Joan Duru (FRA); Masatoshi Ohno (JPN) taking a convincing win over Gony Zubizarreta (ESP); World Tour surfer, Damien Hobgood (USA) comboing Brett Simpson (USA); and TJ Barron (HAW) topping Cory Ziems (AUS) in a low scoring heat.
When competition resumes, the quarterfinal heats will be as follows:
