Estoril Quiksilver Pro goes live in Portugal – Euros dominate the early heats

Running concurrently with the 6 Star Prime Quiksilver Pro Durban, the Estoril Quiksilver Pro went live on Tuesday in Portugal.

World Tour surfer and German Portugal local, Marlon Lipke was the standout surfer on Tuesday, showing his elite tour training by posting the highest heat score of the day,16.23 out of 20. Advancing alongside Marlon on Tuesday were Tiago Pires (PRT), Rhys Bombaci (AUS), Abdel El Harim (MAR), Rudy Marechal (FRA), Simon Marchand (FRA), Matt Keenan (USA), Joaquim and Luca Guichard (DNK), Geoffrey Henno (FRA), Oliver Kurtz (USA), Peter Mel (USA), Tim Boal (FRA), Dillon Perillo (USA), and Will Tant (USA), among others.

Notable early exits went to German Portugal local and Marlon’s younger brother, Melvin Lipke, and Anglo-Swedish star Freddie Meadows who surfs under the Swedish flag.

When Round 2 kicks off, a fair number of notable competitors will hit the water, including a number of serious WQS campaigners and current and past World Tour surfers, including Miky Picon (FRA), Aritz Aranburu (EUK), Joan Duru (FRA), Gony Zubizarreta (ESP), Eric Rebiere (FRA), Jonathan Gonzalez (CNY), Liam McNamara (HAW), Nat Young (USA), Marc Lacomare (FRA), Nico Von Rupp (DEU), Lincoln Taylor (AUS), Masatoshi Ohno (JPN), Leonardo Neves (BRA), and Andre Silva (BRA), among many others.
