Wow, My homebreak got onto Surfline.com.

This is crazy. I was just lookin’ around and when I checked Surfline, I saw something about NC pier surfing issues.  Hmmm.  Interesting.  I clicked on the article and saw Wrightsville Beach in the first sentence.  Wow.  This isn’t good for crowds, but it still got the best of my curiosity. Supposedly, beach officials have not been enforcing the “no surfing within 500 ft” policy of good ol’ Johnny Mercers Pier.  But now, they are going to try to put their foot down before tourist season arrives…   I can attest to the signs posted on either side of the pier (and the smokin’ hot babes), because I surf this beach, and I know all too well about the surfing limits by the pier (me, being directed out of the “off-limits” zone myself).  And after browsing some local forums, I have read about a good fair share of unfair pier incidents regarding over-zealous beach officials.

Here’s the lowdown on the issue.

I myself, don’t like surfing next to a dozen hooks, but if there’re waves, and the pier is empty, I believe that I should be able to surf it! What they should do is at least have a time limit. Like, “no surfing within 500 ft of this pier between the hours of 9am and 6pm.” That way, I can still do a dawn patrol sesh without having to worry about the cops.

Oh, wait, did I say that the chicks here are smokin’ hot?

east coast authorities will never change their stance on beach obstacles and summer crowds, they simply don’t have anything better to do. besides the waves are better at mase 90% of the time, don’t be a bitch, paddle it, you can score the dime pieces after you surfed all morning.
