The Atlantic delivers for day 1 at Reef/Sweetwater Pro-Am

Wrightsville Beach has magically conjured chest high waves just in time for the first day of the Sweetwater Pro-Am. I couldn’t tell you if there was any good surfing going on in the competition (but there was), because I was surfing my butt off myself, but you can look on Star News Online for some photos of this competition.

The swell really came on the 9th, and seemed to peak sometime early in the morning on the 10th.  It would’ve been really good but the tide got on it at about 10 o’ clock in the morning.  The size faded a little bit as the day wore on, and the winds persisted out of the NNE creating side shore conditions.

All-in-all, we lucked out for the first day and I can only hope that our luck continues.  (Luck courtesy of Tony Butler’s good karma, the organizer of the contest and co-owner of Sweetwater surf shop).
