Think your local break is crowed? Try going out in this:

Think Lower Trestles is crowed? Check out this clip I came across on YouTube today of somewhere only Satan knows because I can't read the language description. From the looks of things, it must be Hell. Why would anyone even want to paddle out in that?! I don't know about you, but I'm not really into getting fins run across my calves or surfboard noses in my eye. Talk about having a nervous breakdown. I'd probably end up killing someone. That someone most likely being my own face when I throw my fist into it. You could be the mellowest, best-mannered person in the world and still completely lose your mind out there. This must be what the whole world looks like from outer space, huh? No wonder all the passing aliens are like “F#ck that!”, and never land here anymore.

What's the difference? Just add water:

    I think that’s in Brazil.

  2. Mary Jo Jirik says:

First day I learned to surf, it looked like that at Old Man’s. A bit intimidating as I tried to avoid bonking people with my giant leaky tank.

  3. sean says:

yeah, warrior’s right, that’s in santa catarina in brazil

  4. Mason88 says:

This is what you get when you sell stoke for money. When you hand out surfing skills (surf camps. classes, etc.)for cash. This is what you get when corporate controlling interests control your sport and it comes down to the masses riding Chinese poputs (Waikiki). Sheesh, it’s a no brainer. NO contests, NO magazines, No videos, No surf schools, etc., etc., etc. Especially, for money.

    man, thats south brasil.

ferrugem (means rust) next to garopaba. i’ts actually a great spot and has a very powerfull left with a great channel next to the rocks.

BUT . . . there is the crowd. and most are non locals from rio or s paulo. and 99% of brasilian surfers are into jui-jitsu etc. do the math and you’ll get the vibe of the place.

and this is going on all over here. miss my teenage years, when surfers were outsiders (brasilian reality).

today it’s just a fashion. most of those guys never got the spirit.
and the ones who got it must be patient and wait hours/days for a decent wave. sad man.

This is Garopaba – Brazil. This surf spot is very crowded on summer and weekends, it’s pretty suck to go out there on these days…

  7. Wave Glider says:

This goes to recent articles in current surf magazines, “what if everybody surfed on the same day.” Up here in Nor Cal during the summer months, we have two to four surf camps in the water 7 days a week, with approximately 10 to 20 students at any given times all over the waves with no clue as to what to do, creating havoc for not only the locals, but also very dangerous situations for injury, and of course, anger and frustration. The new owners of the local 2 Mile Surf Shop have become greedy, and are literally trucking in beginners from 30 miles away for lessons. They took over two shops, and destroyed what were once shops where you could go in and talk surf for a while, and be treated like a local. Butt not anymore, business, business, business = $$$$$!

Capitalism and greed go hand in hand now with these guys.

There needs to be regulations on how to run surf schools, and that the instructors should be CPR, water safety, & first aid certified since there are no lifeguards at this beach.

We’re in the “Red Triangle,” so maybe the sharks will thin the herds of beginners out. Just kiddin’.

  8. Wave Glider says:

This is what it looks like at our local break in Nor Cal because of all the surf schools that take over during the summer.

Thanks 2-Mile/Sonoma Coast Surf Shop, we don’t appreciate you doing this.

And Messy Jesse thats why i like Brazil. The Waves here (in my braszilian hometown) aren’t that “good”. But we have more or less every day 200 People in the Water. But no fighting, no Localism! Im surfing the spots in the brazilian northeast for 1 year now. And never had any trouble.
    FIGHT LOCALISM!!!!
