Cain Kilcullen - killing it Irish style

In recent years, Cain Kilcullen has repeatedly been called the best surfer from Ireland. Take a quick look at one of his surf videos and you’ll quickly understand why. The 22 year old Cain comes from Enniscrone, County Sligo, midway between Counties Donegal and Galway on the west Irish coast. Though he has earned accolades for his acrobatics on the water during his free surfing sessions, Cain is also the current men’s Irish national champion. He recaptured the title for a second time, after first winning the honor in 2004. This 2008 victory comes on the heels of significant time spent out of the water as he recovered from a broken foot the previous year, and following the financial demise of his major sponsor, Saltrock. Still representing Oakley and Excel, Cain is on the lookout for a full sponsorship package to aid him on his quest for World Qualifying Series glory. While the talent for competition is obviously there, it seems this young gun from the land of Eire would be much happier earning a living through free surfing (who wouldn’t?). Keep up the good work Cain. We wish you well on your sponsorship quest and look forward to seeing you continue to inspire.

  2. In any other surf rich country this guy would be turning down offers left right and center but rightly or wrongly talent is only starting to get noticed here. Glen Hall is already flying the flag on the CT. The up and coming guys like Damien Conway, Aaron Reid and Cillian Ryan to name but a few have bright futures ahead of them.
