Check out this clip featuring our ten time World Champ, Mr. Robert Kelly Slater. Yeah, I said ten! Watch the first turn he throws down and you’ll understand why the nine time World Champ is on the path to his tenth title.

Though he failed to land his real opening move, a big alley oop, it was certainly enough to get the crowd pumped and had me jumping up and down in front of my computer screen, cheering him on. The wave he backed it up with was the real gem, where he threw down a dream crushing layback snap, followed by a few tight turns.

The overall heat score was pretty low, but Slater managed to do what was necessary with the waves he was given to earn himself a day off from competition and passage to Round 3. The most impressive and amazing fact about his performance on Saturday was that he was riding a 5′4″ which he personally shaped. How long before other guys on tour are riding boards like his in competition?
