O’Neill World Cup of Surfing - Thursday morning live!

The WQS 2008 O’Neill World Cup of Surfing will resume this morning in another day of huge surf at Sunset Beach. Beggining with Round 5, the event is expected to run through the finals, wrapping up this afternoon.

The results of this event, the last event on the 2008 World Qualifying Series and the second of three events in the 2008 Van’s Triple Crown of Surfing, will factor heavily into finalizing the makeup of the 2009 World Tour. Additionally, at the conclusion of this contest, we will have a good sense of who is really in contention for the Triple Crown title going into the final event at Pipeline.

Marlon Lipke will be praying for a minor miracle to keep his Dream Tour hopes alive. David Weare (ZAF), Patrick Gudauskas (USA), Phillip MacDonald (AUS), Yadin Nicol (AUS), Dion Atkinson (AUS) and Rodrigo Dornelles (BRA) still remain in contention for a spot on the 2009 World Tour.
