Given a significant decrease in swell, the Reef Hawaiian Pro called a lay day on Sunday, pushing the continuation of both the men’s and women’s events back until more sizable waves return. With an event waiting period running through November 23rd, the first event in the Van’s Triple Crown of Surfing should see a stellar finale later this week.
Much ground was covered on Saturday, with the completion of men’s Round 3 and the completion of the women’s event through Round 2. When the contest resumes, we will see either the start of the men’s Round 4 or the completion of the women’s event, starting with the Quarterfinals.
The swell has been decreasing throughout Saturday night and all of Sunday and should continue to deteriorate throughout the week. A new significant swell should arrive by Thursday, leaving plenty of time to complete the remainder of the competition. The men’s event only requires two full days to complete, while the women’s event can be wrapped up in a few hours, with only 7 heats left.
Stay tuned to the event website for updates, photos, videos and all the live action.
