The 2 Star WQS Vans Pier Classic presented by Jack’s Surfboards wrapped up on Sunday at Huntington Beach Pier with San Clemente boy, Mike Losness locking down the win. Losness posted a convincing win in the final, topping runner-up, Dillon Perillo, 3rd placed, Hank Gaskell, and 4th placed Eric Geiselman.
Mike’s road to victory was paved with the blood of some of America’s best and brightest. Entering the competition with a high seed in Round 4, he topped Bud Freitas, Tyler Newton and Doug Van Mierlo. He destroyed his Round 5 competition, topping Travis Beckmann, Justin McBride, and Keli Everett of Hawaii. He placed second in his quarterfinal heat, ousting Shaun Ward and Hawaii’s Nathan Carroll, then took second again in the semis, taking down Cody Thompson and Hawaii’s Dege O’Connell.
Dillon Perillo dominated the Junior event. He comboed his entire Round 4 heat, consisting of Dege O’Connell, Kekoa Cazimero and Riley Metcalf. Next, he destroyed Michael Dunphy, Matt Pagan and Jared Thorne in his quarterfinal heat, before comboing the field again in the semis, where he topped Andrew Doheny, Chase Brady and Michael Dunphy. In the finals he coboed the heat once more, this time blazing past runner-up, Andrew Doheny, 3rd placed, Luke Davis and 4th placed, Spencer Regan.
