Okay, so we’re already more than halfway through the month of June, and you can’t help but notice all the attention that has been paid recently to two particular pro surfers and their respective rodeo clown displays.
For starters, It’s hard not to be impressed with Pat Gudauskas’ not one, but two landed rodeos at the recent 6 Star Prime SriLankan Airlines Pro in the Maldives. In nailing both rodeos (and twin ten point rides with them), Pat has taken one of surfing’s most difficult maneuvers from free surfing to the big league, and has proven his consistency in doing so.
The second big rodeo star of June is current World Tour star, Jordy Smith, who nailed a textbook perfect, big ol’ rodeo clown on a surf shoot, super trip down in the Mentawais. Viewable on Surfline and a fair number of other sites right now, Jordy’s air is truly something to behold. You can bet your hairy ass it won’t be long before we see him pulling one of these on the World Tour.
Pat and Jordy have proven that it’s time for all of us to step up our game. Just when you’ve started to consistently land a few chop-hops, these guys go and raise the bar. I’ve vowed to try to nail a few of these myself before the month is out, but unfortunately rodeo clowns apparently don’t work well with credit card airs.

Pat Gudauskas and his brothers should go to film school.
