If your family doesn't surf at all, there is pretty much no better way to learn how to surf than by getting lessons from a surf camp. And if  you're lucky enough that you do have a family who surfs, have a house on the beach, and were given a surfboard for your third birthday, then let me get this out of the way:  I truly envy you and your craaazy ludicrous good fortune… can your family adopt me?   Right, so… anyways, surf camps are great for those people with no surfing background whatsoever because, let's face it, surfing is like a hot new rave club downtown with all the bouncers and drinks and what-not – It takes some luck or connections and know-how to stumble into said club… and surf camps provide enough know-how to get a frothing grom stoked on surfing for the rest of their life.  Yipee.  Wait.  YIPEE!!!  That's better.

Indo Jax surf school isn't one of those “get rich and split,” surf camps – I've seen their truck driving around my locale ever since surfing was at the forefront of my intuition.  The owner of Indo Jax, Jack Viorel, is an incredibly nice guy with tons of stoke to spread around, along with co-owner Kevin Murphy and a handful of others, the vibe you get from within the surf lessons are nothing but good feelings.

Now lets get all technical.  Indo jax has a 2:1 student teacher ratio – the best ratio in the area. and classes have around 13 people in a class, meaning the experience is definitely personal, but the groms can still find other groms to bond with.  Every student is provided with rashguards and a soft top boards to safely learn on – no one wants concussions now, and most importantly, all the students are taught invaluable information on ocean currents, safety from the sun, and precautions from anything else that may tarnish a little grom's stoke.

This is all dandy and all, but what makes Indo Jax so great, you ask?  Well, they have many surf camps for less fortunate souls who are disabled – whether it be spinal chord complications, blindness, and even autism.  These guys are the true epitome of giving back to the community with these camps.  I have to say, nothing touches my soul more than seeing kids who can't surf everyday enjoy, surfing as much as me – if not more.  It makes you realize how much we can take surfing for granted and we can all benefit if we surf everyday if we are thankful to be out, instead of being hostile to the stray beginner, or belching certain 4 letter words whenever you miss a wave (not the other way around).
