No B.S. Review
This book gives us the 10 Commandements of Surf Wax, a sample: #1 wax the top of the surfboard! #3 boards on the roof of your car wax side down! and the most important #10 Sex Wax brand surf wax has no other use beyond surfing, experiment at your own peril!. OK, how many of you violated #10?
So we know there are a lot of instructional surf books out there. This book, by Ben Marcus, goes through all the usual stuff: history of surfing, selecting a board, gear, lessons and etiquette.
The unique things we noticed in this book is it has a nice sizing chart that tells you what board you should be using based on your weight (Length, Width, Height). He has this chart across surfboard types, for longboards, shortboards etc which is pretty cool.
Ben also has a list of the best beginner beaches in the world (check out the list and don't be mad at him if your local break is on there) and a list of the best surf schools across the globe.
