there is usually a perfect spot to be in just in front of the breaking wave

Green Room Surfboards… Super stoked! Part 2

I’ve been waiting in anticipation for the fateful day that would present me with the new board…

Thursday was The Day. I went to the shaping bay to pick up my board. The board is epoxy, made by Green Room Surfboards, (who makes some of the best epoxy boards ever.) They had placed it in a “baking room” after the glassing job was done. When the shaper handed me the board, my hair stood up on end, ’cause holding my new, warm board felt as good as putting on clothes straight out if the dryer. It felt so good to hold it, and after a few pictures, and after thanking Jimmy Keith, I left the bay.

Saturday, I took the board out for a spin. It was chest to head high and pretty clean with light SW winds. On every wave, my stomach squealed in delight, as I dropped in on wave after wave, feeling the board glide across the wave as smooth as silk. I took it out the next day too. It was a magic board, I could duck-dive, and it could handle the steep drops! On one wave I caught, I knew I was gonna fall, but then something magical happened: I felt my toe-side rail sink into the wave face. And I made the wave. This board was magic.

So check out Green Room Surfboards if you live in the area of Wilmington, NC, and/or if you want a really nice epoxy board. I’m glad I did.

  3. Ryan, I usually surf at Wrightsville, but I heard so much about Green Room’s epoxy, I had to check it out.
