Waves is a coffee table type book, but one whose images are a constant reminder that you haven’t surfed nearly half as many waves as you’d like to, and there are many perfect days to be had. Written by Steve Hawk, former editor of Surfer Magazine, Waves may not teach a surfer anything he doesn’t already know, but reinforces just how powerful the waves we surf really are. The book is full of incredible images of waves spanning from Newport Beach to Newfoundland and everywhere in between. Small waves, huge waves, closeouts - all manner of ocean undulations are covered, along with some very interesting stories about waves and the ocean.
Waves is a great book for picking up once you’ve had a day of surf or when you haven’t touched water in some time. It’s a book that will have you salivating at the prospect of getting some waves of your own.
