Jack Johnson, You’ve got Some Competition (just kidding)
Jack Johnson, watch out because there is another surfer/musician in town and it just so happens to be yours truly. I sing and play guitar and piano and write my own music, just like Jack. I play solo at restaurants and also have a rockin’ band. It’s so much fun to be a musician/surfer because I totally pimp out my shows to the other surfers who always seem to make small talk with me (a.k.a hit on me). Since my town is so small, people don’t really know what is going on at night, so in between catching waves, I like to drop a little PR. I really like to incorporate surfing into the songs I write, too. For example, “you caught me like the waves that day….strong, smooth, yet unexpected,” or a song in Spanish I have “llegamos a la cabana y vimos las olas, no pude creer, me senti nerviousa” (we arrived to the cabana and saw the waves, I couldn’t believe them and I started to feel nervous). The one is Spanish was actually about a surf trip I took, which is going to be the topic of another post in due time. Maybe I’ll make it big like Jack, most likely I won’t, but I will always keep playing music and surfing!
