Surfing Travel

Join the Luggage Club

You thought that the airlines have got you screwed? Think again!

I was perusing the internet, looking at some surf-site regulars when I noticed an ad to the side - the Luggage Club. Apparently, they specialize in transporting sporting goods as an alternative to checking it in as luggage at the airport. They even list surfboards on their list of transportable items! They claim that your equipment will get to its destination on time and in one piece. The fee is about the same as what airlines charge, but hopefully you won’t have to deal with replacing your new stick that you wanted to surf with in Fiji really bad.

I don’t know if what they claim is true, but if it is, It’s a serious road to take for me when I start traveling. If anyone has experience with the Luggage Club, comment below.

  1. Coming from someone who had an airline lose a piece of valuable luggage with items that couldn’t be replaced…luggage that was never recovered, and as a seasoned traveler, I’d say stick with the airlines.

Yes, The Luggage Club can be a useful tool for those who don’t have very long distances to travel. $400 round trip on the airline to ship two shortboards from let’s say Florida to California on the airline vs. $437 using The Luggage Club may seem reasonable if it’s saving you some time and energy-and giving you piece of mind. *$2,400* to ship those two same surfboards from Florida to Nicaragua, vs. the $400 on the airlines…not worth it. Also, read the fine print in their Indemnity statement that releases them and all of their affiliates from any liability. Read on in their Insurance statement and it says they’re not responsible in the following case: ” and/or failure of delivery equipment.”
It is a bit easier to insure on the airlines. Just don’t sign any type of release form. They can’t make you.

Simple transports that don’t have to go very far…sure. They’re using outside shipping companies to get your goods somewhere. Everything with the airline is internal. You’re much more likely to have your items found by the airline.

Longboards-they use freight shipping, so add on some extra dinero to the shortboard price quote. Longboarders’ boards ain’t getting there cheap.

  3. I am writing from Luggage Forward, the industry leader in door to door luggage delivery.

If you would like to compare pricing for our domestic and international services, you will find that we are considerably lower in price than the Luggage Club.

Also, in speaking from personal experience, I have dealt with a share of clients who have switched to us from other competitors as their primary service, as our on-time guarantee and impeccable staff make the value unbeatable.

Please feel free to visit our website (htt://www.luggageforward.com) to obtain a trip specific price quote or call our office at 866-416-7447. We look forward to perfecting your travel experience!
