This is one of the videos I put on while gathering my things, before paddling out. It’s a video showing some great longboarding at Cardiff, a local break in San Diego. Cardiff is a truly great wave.
I’m always impressed by the endless possibility of different styles while doing a seemingly simple thing -riding a board on a wave. These guys mix the classic logging styles with some later technique, and each with his own style. I tend to bring my life with me when I surf, and I think it’s true of any surfer; you tend surf depending on your mood. In that sense, everyone really has their own style because we’re all bringing a little from our personal life to the lineup. You can improve by learning new techniques, but a great surfer has just developed their own unique style.
I hope you enjoy the clip of Cardiff, and I would highly suggest checking it out if you in the area.
