Surfing the Outer Banks is always a real treat. I will drive down form Virginia Beach to various spots of the twisting and turning dunes. Its always been a fun adventure chasing a hurricane swell and looking at all the amazing beach breaks as they go off simultaneously. Paddling out is tricky because all of the dredging barrels spinning you under water; while trying to make a duck dive squeeze all of the air out of your lungs. When your finally out and get the courage to drop in on a bomb, all you can think about is getting to the shoulder. However every time you have the balls to slow down and stall into the tube its like your the king of the world.There is a small patch of light at the end of the tunnel but the rest is complete darkness. It sounds like your in this vacuum cleaner that is going to suck you up into this black hole. Then all of a sudden you get thrown out of the wave and come out with the spit. You fly off the shoulder and your going completely nuts. But all the locals are just there watching you and thinking your a kook because they have already pulled into a billion of tubes that day. But all the carelessness of locals is actually jealousy that they didn’t have a billion and one of those amazing rides. Out of all of the spots on the east coast the outer banks is always the best because of its sheer power and craziness. Barrels on the outer banks are like no other, so keep it in the back of your mind when you think your wave has good tubes.
