Arbor Cross-Step Longboard - Product Review

The boys over at Arbor Boards heard about our recent product reviews and wanted to toss their hat in the ring. They were kind enough to send us one of their Cross Step Longboards to see what we thought. I’ve been doing more and more reviews on longboard skateboarding between flat spells and I have been really pleased with the performance they offer and the improvements they have made in my surfing.

Arbor keeps the streak going for sure. The Cross Step is a longer board than any of the others we have tried and definitely one of the most surf oriented we have seen. Coming in at 46” long and 10” wide, this is thing is a boat and looks like a mini longboard surfboard! The Cross Step also comes standard with Revenge Alpha 2s trucks. These trucks are unlike any others I have seen. They are torsion trucks that pivot 45° degrees side to side and are really smooth when carving. You can do a full circle in less than 8ft! The Cross Step also sports a pretty cool wave graphic on the bottom.
I was a bit skeptical at first just due to the overall size of the Cross Step and how much rocker there was, but once I got on it I was blown away how surf-like the feel was. It is by no means made for speed boarding down vertical hills but it is great for getting around town or cruising to the beach. With all the space the deck offers you can cross-step your heart out!
The board is constructed of 6-ply hard rock maple and it sports an old school surfer feel with a great deck pattern with simulated stringers. I would suggest any surfer give this board a try as it is just so much fun. And if you’re one of those people that rocks a longboard in the water all the time, you’re gonna be amazed at how similar the ride is to your log….Check the Cross Step and Arbor’s other boards at: http://www.arborsports.com/merchant2/skatehome.html and get one today! Thanks for reading and as always, tell a friend.

  4. Dude, revenge trucks are the $h*******T! I bought a 48″ longboard by Barfoot Designs and it totally rips. And what’s funny, is that you say it’s not for bombing hills, but I actually use it exclusively as my bombing board. It’s so stable at high speeds as long as you’re always initiating a turn or slightly holding an edge. If you try to stand flatfooted you might get a bit wobbly. When I was living in the mountains of British Columbia we used to car drop some 1500 vertical drop, 5 mile stretches of pristine highway on longboards and cruise at about 45 mph wearing full downhill gear. Fun stuff. Nice review G.S.!
