Longboarding Tips

BC Longboards ~ Dailystoke.com custom longboard!

I have recently discovered longboard skateboarding to be a great way to train for surfing during flat spells. The more I do it, the more stoked I get and after returning to the water after a recently long flat spell, I am convinced it helps with my performance in the water. Because I feel longboards are such good training for surfing, I have reached out to a few companies that specialize in such products and wanted to share my results with our readers. This month I am very pleased to introduce BC Longboards (www.bclongboards.com).

Brandon Bryant and Marshall Cooper are the masterminds behind BC which is based in Oklahoma. The two started the company in early 2008 with the goal of putting out the best possible rides and giving their clients a totally new experience when buying their next board. What drew me to them first was the overall surf feel of the website; I never thought I’d find such a surf oriented site from a skateboard company. I was also pleasantly surprised to find that the board shapes and names stayed true to the surfing lifestyle as well. However, what really got my attention was the customization options BC offers.

The company has the ability to customize any of their boards with graphics, logos, or pictures of the customers choice! I’d never heard of a company doing this so had to see it for myself. Sure enough, within a week Brandon and Marshall had a custom Marlin out to us. It cam complete with 180mm Randal R*II’s, 70mm Grip-n-Slide wheels, Abec 7 bearings, clear grip, and a Dailystoke.com graphic that was just awesome! After we finished drooling over the artwork, we took it out on the street for some road testing.

The Marin handles like a dream and makes pumping and carving super easy. What I liked most about the Marlin is that it is has all of the longboard performance characteristics I need in a real compact little unit. Coming in at 42-3/4″ long and 9″ wide, the board is still small enough to fit almost anywhere making it perfect for travel. Everywhere I took it someone asked about the graphics on the bottom which made sharing info on the Dailystoke and BC easier than ever.

After a throughout testing I have to say that if you’re looking for a surf feel in a longboard, you can’t go wrong with the stuff from BC. In addition to the great ride and deck options I still think the biggest selling feature is that each board is custom and reflects the owners personality. Also for any companies or skaters looking for a great way to advertise, slap your logo on the bottom of one of these boards and just go for a ride, believe me, someone will ask!

Thanks again to Brandon and Marshall, we wish them the best of luck in 2009! Visit them today at www.bclongboards.com to check out the Dailystoke board up close while you make the board of your dreams a reality!

  3. This review said nothing about the boards apart from the fact that the website is surfy and you can stick a custom graphic on. Feeling surfy is not exaclty a unique experience as i could say that about almost every longboard i have been on.

  4. The dude that posted the last comment is a real douche. “Surfy” is a great description. If he thinks every longboard fits that description he probably doesn’t ride. Poser.
This company’s board range is impressive. You can order whatever you want in a ride. Flexy or stiff, short or long, concave or convex, you design it. Nice review.

  5. Yeah, I agree that the guy that posted on the 22nd is a douche. I have one of their boards and they are sick…don’t listen to losers that don’t actually surf or ride.
