These dudes are ripping! (Try to take note of all the cross-stepping in between the tricks.) This is by far the best longboard skateboard video I’ve ever seen. I don’t know if these guys surf or not, but it’s safe to say it wouldn’t take much for them to learn. Skateboarding helps your surfing tremendously. Just the act of riding other boards, and how that helps your balance. The more comfortable you are on moving boards the more your mind can forget about the simple things, and pay attention to the possibilities. You’ll never get good at surfing until you don’t even think about the task of getting up, and it just happens out of instinct. It goes on a lot further than that to the point of not even thinking about pumping down the line for speed. Because you already know you wanna air off the close-out section, and that’s all your mind is thinking about. You’re not even concentrating on the roller coaster motion of all the speed you’re subconsciously generating down the line, because all you’re watching for is a place to launch (or hit it, float, or turn, whatever it is you wanna do with all this speed you have). Those kind of things have to come naturally before you’ll excel at surfing. Riding things like longboard skateboards will speed this process up. Especially if you ride longboards, because if you practice cross-stepping on a skateboard everyday, by the end of summer you’ll be ripping, too.
