Kai Barger & crew tear apart the Gold Coast

Feeling confident about your surfing?  You won’t be for long.  Take a look at what some of the best under 20 year old surfers in the world were up to recently on the Gold Coast of Australia, before and after the Billabong World Junior Championships.

Surfline got the photo scoop on the event champion, Kai Barger and his crew of merry makers as they tore the bag out of everything the Gold Coast threw at them.  It’s amazing what the up-and-coming Junior surfers are doing these days, and how they approach such critical, high performance moves with the same laid back approach that pros of yesteryear would give an off the top.  Surfing has truly elevated to a new level, and if the World Junior Championship was any indication of where the future of surfing is heading, the bar is pretty damn high.  Event champ, Kai Barger, and other top Juniors throughout the competition where punting airs in heats with the greatest of ease, making each heat look like an expression session or a free surf.  Take a look at the Surfline feature, and ask yourself how you were surfing when you were still under 20.  Enjoy!
