there is usually a perfect spot to be in just in front of the breaking wave

Surfing

Listen to the Waves

As a grom, I always wanted to listen to music while surfing. While waiting for sets, I’d imagine how I could make this happen. I even thought about city-sponsored speaker setups fit for Woodstock on shore, with a jukebox that only plays full CDs. (That way, you have time to paddle out before your favorite song is over.)

Along came iPods with waterproof cases, and I thought that was it.  Bliss.  That is, until my surf session today.  I was looking for that one perfect wave you take to end on a good note, and I got it.  Dropped in, and another guy started to paddle right into it.  I tried to call him off, but he couldn’t hear me (or possibly ignored me).

Turns out, he had a waterproof iPod.  Of course. Probably listening to my favorite song while catching my wave, too.

Lesson: Don’t buy one. Music and surfing can be enjoyed separately.  Unless the City wants to kick down some cash for an epic speaker setup…
