Can I be honest? I’m an everyday surfer that will buy one wetsuit per year. I’ve come quite savvy on buying the best quality of suit for the cheapest bargain. I’ve always been a huge fan of O’Neill and Xcel wetsuits. There’s just something about the quality that has always kept me coming back. However, after deeply investigating Quiksilver’s new model, the Cypher, I may have to make an exception on my rubber for this winter. The features that stood out the most that make me amped about this slick skin are:
Hyperstretch II – The material used to construct the suit is light, non-absorbent, warm, and incredibly flexible.
Chest HTF Heating System – Unlike other suits, the Cypher has developed a wicked jersey-like material that lies between your skin and the inner skin of the suit. It functions as a filter, draining all excess water of the suit – allowing you to stay WARMER!
GBS – All seams of the suit are single-blind stitched and triple-glued to decrease the water from entering your suit.
Hydroshield zip panel – another layer of material on your back causing a blockage between your body and the cold water. I especially like this feature for the back-zips – unlike other back-zips that allow a quick rush of water on your hind-quarter with your first duck-dive.
Cypher Seal – Ankle and wrist cuffs sewn on the inside of the suit. These cuffs serve as a protective mechanism from the countless wetsuit changes, allowing the ankle and wrist portions of your suit to last longer. Also, these cuffs block water from entering.
3/2 = $359.95
4/3 = $379.95
(Editor’s Note: We’ll be reviewing the Quiksilver Cypher Wetsuit mid-fall when temps start to drop. Look for our review of this and the RipCurl H-Bomb around that time).

The Cypher is all good and well with all the flexibility and filters and stuff but i recently aquired a QS cell six and in three months the rist seams had almost doubled in girth. what the flip ? it stretched like a rubber band and never had any stretch memory.
I have a chest zip option on a Rip Curl F Bomb, and at first, I wasn’t sure I’d like it, but it does work better than a back zip. The first thing is that the chest zip is actually shorter in length, so that right there prevents more water from getting in. It can be a bit tight getting into it, especially if you’re putting it on over Xmas dinner!!!

so how much different is the cypher ??????????
Get a Patagonia R3. Break your cycle and get in with quality that does not last “one year”
that sounds good, but what about the cypher with the chest zip option? i just wanted to know if there was much difference in warmth etc.?
