Surfing in China - how EXCITING!

And you thought only cheap, crappy surfboard blanks came from China! The very first time I’ve ever surfed over to CCTV, the Chinese Government’s Propaganda Arm largest news agency in China, was…err…today, featuring this article, about how surfing is increasing in popularity in China. “Well cool!” I thought, until I read a totally useless article comparing surfing to foosball. The article features an interview with “Surfing lover”. (You wouldn’t want to identify anyone by their NAME, oh, no.) In terms of the Chinese surfing scene, our reporter from CCTV notes that: “For many surfing lovers, breaking waves help them to become focus in eyes.” Focus in the eyes indeed!

That said, my favorite quote is from “Surfing lover”:

‘Surfing lover said, “It’s a very good experience in surfing, like playing guitar, you are being watched in what your are doing. I never get tired of being in the sea. The feeling is fantastic.”‘

Oh boy.
