Waxy Wax - product review

Just the sheer magnitude of all the different brands of surf wax to choose from can make your head spin, and often times you just basically close your eyes, reach into the wax box and pick a random bar of wax. More times than naught, you’re satisfied with your “choice”. In fact, you convince yourself that the wax you chose is the best because it has sparkles in it (or something like that), and never buy any other brand. Well, I can understand your fear of delving into that vast market of surf wax - let’s face it: the days of buying paraffin wax from the drug store are over. It’s time for high-tech wax.

Waxy Wax is… well, it’s waxy. That’s cool. That’s how wax should be, yet some waxes, within a day of moderate surfing, still manage to become as slick as a baby’s bottom. Waxy Wax doesn’t do that. For the past few months, I have been surfing with Waxy Wax on my board, and I have yet to be disappointed. It makes nice big lumps, and stays sticky forever. The only downfall is that the nature of the wax is very soft, so don’t be afraid to use wax rated for warmer water, that way the bumps will last longer. And don’t worry, it’ll still be stickier than your average brand of wax. So keep that in mind, and you’ll be “shredding the gnar” in no time. Provided you can shred.

Oh yeah, and for the artsy-fartsy surfers out there, it comes in brilliant colors! I haven’t tried to make a design yet, but there are some pretty cool pictures on their website that do show some designs.
