I wasn’t going to pick these shoes, but then I thought they would work out kind of nice for pawn patrols. Slip em’ on and grab some coffee. It’s a simple canvas shoe on a leather sole. I wouldn’t hit the bar in these, but they’re perfect beach shoes. They’re made by TOMS, and for every pair sold they are donating another to a kid in need. So this gift gives twice, and somewhere in Africa the kids are gonna be stylin’.
Price tag: About $40.00 bucks.
Dragon sunglasses were pretty much the coolest thing ever when they first came out, and all the new school surfers had them. Remember those first bug-eyed style glasses everybody & their mother wore? I had a couple of pairs, but these new Terminator lookin’ sh!ts are pretty rad! 100 % UV protection, and they’re that large fit style everybody’s wearing. “I’ll be back” is back, and the green is a cool throwback to the 80’s.
Price tag: About a hundred bucks.

Surfers love to travel, and having some decent luggage is a nice thing. Quiksilver has a 3-in-1 travel set that retails for $119.99 dollars. That’s super cheap for 3 pieces of luggage. Not that I actually own that much stuff, and even if I did I might not want to drag that much crap with me on a surf trip. But maybe you’re a girl or one of those metro sexual kind of dudes, and could fill one bag alone with different kinds of hair products. I guess Quiksilver’s knight in shining armor doesn’t have to worry about that kinda thing. You know, because he’s bald and all.
No, but seriously. This would make an awesome gift, and the price is pretty tempting. I might get in on this myself.

Nixon makes some pretty sweet headphones for your iPod. They’re actually sold out of these on their web site right now, but I’m sure you could find them at your local surf shop. The “Master Blasters” will keep you pumped up on the long walk down to Trestles.

I brought up the luggage thing earlier, and somehow I forgot about the most important piece. Your surfboards! This particular 10 foot bag can carry up to 4 thruster short boards without the fins, or 3 nine o’ish longboards. It has a 3/8″ closed cell foam lining for maximum ding protection, a quality wheel set on the structure hall, and a nice thick shoulder strap for dragging it around. The Dakine “World Traveler” comes in smaller sizes, but I always like to get the bigger bags. You never know where you’re gonna end up going next, and how many different boards you’ll need. It’s made out of a durable 600D polyester fabric, and will cost you about $250.00 dollars. Totally worth it when you get to the beach, and all your sticks are in the same condition they were when you left the house.

You can never forget to bring an extra back-up leash, and Dakine also makes a great “Kainui Team Leash”. It’s tested in Hawaii so you know it’s going to be a quality product. Double brass swivels, a quick release cuff for those “emergencies”, and a triple wrap rail saver.
$25 bucks, and maybe you won’t lose your board this time!
No one surfs without a back foot traction pad these days, and the Bruce Irons pro pad is pretty sick. Having this pad alone will make your airs like 8 feet higher. You’re on your own with landing them, but this might keep your heel from going through your board. I actually have a more drawn-out foot arch so the Andy Irons model works a little better for me.
Andy really isn’t known for giant airs, but this pad might help you hit the lip like Mack Truck and make it rain on everybody in the line up.
Both models retail around forty bucks.
So there’s a few Christmas gift ideas, and if the surfer in your life’s not happy with them, feel free to blame it all on me.
