What’s up with Kelly Slater kookin’?

A fair warning to the sheltered people: This is a Lewis Samuels article, and as you may or may not know, he’s never been afraid to express his outlook on surfers. I feel he’s pretty much dead-on with the matter, what do you guys think about it?

No way. Is this guy wearing beer goggles when he watches Slater surf? Slater rips harder than almost anybody on tour. He’s always doing a little “extra” on any turn. Now maybe because I don’t have time to watch all the other guys but every time I do, they don’t come close to Slater’s style and prowess. Keep in mind I’m not a Slater lover, I just see the differences. I actually root for the bigger guys like Pancho, Joel, and Dayne since I’m 6′2″ and 190 (and that’s not a fat 190 but an in-shape 190).
I saw that last contest with 90 mph off-shores and sets every 10+ minutes. That’s a tough way to surf. I didn’t see the heat but it doesn’t matter. Slater will win it in the final at Pipe or something crazy like that. He also seems to just have more fun out there than anybody.
