Machado, Rob
A goofyfoot Californian pro surfer who was part of the Momentum generation. Rob routinely finished runner up to Kelly Slater throughout his time on tour. Though it was widely thought Rob would eventually win the world title, he was dismissed from tour after missing several events due to the near death of his infant child. He is still regularly featured in photo and video shoots, and blows away the competition in the few contests he enters each year. Also known as the “Mob”. Known for his “white afro” hair.

King of the Shapers. Has apparently shaped 70,000 + boards. Quiet, respectful, cool. Hard not to love him.
Momentum (Movie)
A surf video by Taylor Steele, released in 1992. The surf video equivalent of Kerouac’s “On The Road”. Introduced the world to the rising surf talent of pros like Kelly Slater, Rob Machado, Shane Dorian, Ross Williams, Taylor Knox and several others. These surfers, then known as the “new school”, became known as the “Momentum” generation.
