- Choo-poo, Chopes, Tay-ah-poo. Properly pronounced: Tea-uh-oo-poh, you kook. That people cannot understand French accent influence and dialect led to Chew-Poo, Cho-Po, Cho-Poo. Commonly called "Chopes" as a nickname to avoid looking dumb.
Scene of some of the world's heaviest waves ever ridden, and probably the heaviest. Scary. Andy Irons loves it and big wave rider Laird Hamilton successfully kicked ass at Tahiti's Teahupoo, enough to warrant a shot on the cover of Surfer Mag for this efforts.
