Joel Parkinson took home the win on Sunday at Sunset Beach on the final day of the 2009 O'Neill World Cup of Surfing, the second event in the 2009 Vans Triple Crown of Surfing. Though, the win doesn't put him any closer to winning his much deserved World Title, it does put him in a pretty good position to win this year's Triple Crown, especially when paired with his quarterfinal finish at the Reef Hawaiian Pro. 2009 ASP World Qualifying Series rankings following the 6 Star Mr. Price Pro Ballito

The 2009 WQS put two more events to bed and has seen more shifts in the rankings.  Following dual South African events, the tour rolls on.  The 4 Star O'Neill Coldwater Classic wrapped up on June 24th, crowning Australia's Blake Thornton, and the 6 Star Mr. Price Pro Ballito finished on July 5th, with California's Tanner Gudauskas taking the big point haul. Australia’s Adam Melling has once again risen to the top of the pack by taking top honors at the 2009 WQS 6 Star Prime O’Neill Cold Water Classic in Thurso, Scotland. He took the title and 3500 points in solid waves in the picturesque northern Scotland. The O'Neill Cold Water Classic finished up in Tasmania on Sunday, crowning sophomore, World Tour surfer Jordy Smith (ZAF) the inaugural champ. Jordy took down first place in a convincing win over fellow World Tour surfer, Damien Hobgood (USA) in the final.
