Joel Parkinson took home the win on Sunday at Sunset Beach on the final day of the 2009 O'Neill World Cup of Surfing, the second event in the 2009 Vans Triple Crown of Surfing. Though, the win doesn't put him any closer to winning his much deserved World Title, it does put him in a pretty good position to win this year's Triple Crown, especially when paired with his quarterfinal finish at the Reef Hawaiian Pro. Parko snuck by Sunny Garcia in the closing minutes of the final, leaving Sunny with … [Read more...]

The weekend has come and gone.  We've seen the crowning of the Billabong Pipeline Masters champion (Kelly Slater) and the men's Van's Triple Crown of Surfing champion (Joel Parkinson), but the ladies are still laying in wait for the swell to pick up at Honolua Bay.  Other points around Maui lit up on the swell that provided waves for Oahu's North Shore, but Honolua Bay on Maui's northwest point failed to produce, given its narrower swell window, thanks to neighboring Molokai to the North.  With … [Read more...]
